From
12-27-2007 Tulsa World: Collinsville -- John R. "Randy"
Brooke, 63, retired United Airlines maintenance supervisor,
died Tuesday. Service 10am Friday, Mowery (Owasso). |
There
was a special session of the Collinsville City Commission Wed. (Dec.
26th) at 6pm with the following agenda topics:
* Discussion and possible action on funding for ice storm damages.
* Discussion and possible action on Downtown Streetscape Project.
* Executive Session Discussion of: -- Jack Garrett Lease. -- Collinsville
Livestock Exchange. -- City Clerk/Treasurer position.
(I just received the agenda 12/26 which was apparently posted
12/21) -- Ted 12/26/2007 3:30pm
With
unbudgeted expenses related to the ice storm mounting, the
municipal trustees authorized the City Manager to negotiate
with local banks for a line of credit up to $1.5 million to
pay the potential bills. 75% FEMA reimbursements and 12.5%
state reimbursements are expected to eventually cover the
majority of those expenses but will likely not be available
to the city as the bills come due. The city's total expenses
are unknown at this point and reimbursements will require
extensive documentation. City crews continuing the post-storm
cleanup will have their role in the Main Street streetscape
project (which was to start Dcc. 17th, 2007) delayed. That
delay has Vision 2025 and ODOT funds for the project at risk
as deadlines had previously been extended. The commissioners
tabled action on signing the contract for the streetscape
effort until the funding can be verified. I did not stay for
any potential post executive session discussions or actions.

last city yearly budget was for $1.9
million} |

Propel Cardinals Wrestlers To Big Win Over Barnsdall Dec. 20th
Josh Pennington,
Michael Pitts, Dalton Salisbury and Trey Rogers all recorded falls
to help propel Collinsville to a 36-33 win over the Class 2A 4th
ranked Barnsdall Panthers. Both Pennington and Pitts where behind
in the match score when they got their pins. Perhaps the biggest
win of the night came at 215 lbs where Matt West won a 8-4 dec over
Barnsdall's Drew Swan. Heading into the match the Cardinals trailed
33-27. A Cardinal loss would have sealed the match for Barnsdall.
West used 3 takedowns and pair of escapes to get the win and move
the score to 33-30. Allowing Rogers pin at Hwt to secure the win
for Collinsville 36-33. Parker Reed got a forfeit at 119 labs and
Josh Loftin won a 8-1 dec.
Jr
High Wresters beat Barnsdall 45-15
Winners for the Jr High were Dylan Helm, Levi McHenry, Jacob Barton,
Conner Nair, Newt Salisbury, Joe Keith, Shane Douglas, Tyler Taber,
and Jacob Smith.

Ice Storm (Dec 2007): Report all losses and let the experts
make the determination. Some examples are lost time at work, food
losses, generators, house and vehicle damage, contractor's fees,
and any other personal losses. Please
make the call to (866) 560-7584 The Oklahoma Damage Assessment
Hotline for FEMA. Every resident needs to call this number and report
all damages. Keep all receipts of expenses, take photos, and keep
an itemized list of all out-of-pocket expenses. The line may be
busy for some time but keep trying until you get through, It is
imperative to make the call as these numbers will decide individual

Cardinal
Wrestlers Start Season by Beating Bristow and Sperry
The
Jr High and Varsity wrestling teams won 2 duals each Tuesday night
in Bristow.
The CHS varsity beat Class 2A 8th ranked Sperry 43-27 and
then upset Class 3A 5th ranked Bristow 37-36. The Cardinals trailed
the Purple Pirates 36-25 with 2 matches left in the dual. Michael
Pitts got a fall at 160 lbs to close the gap to 36-31. At 171
lbs Collinsville sent newcomer Michael Maul (Maul moved to Collinsville
from Perkins) to the mat to secure the win. Maul took his opponet
down, ran a chicken wing bar arm and got the fall in :58. It was
a good start for the Cardinals who hope to use this momentum to
secure many more wins this season.
The
Jr High wrestlers trounced Sperry 60-6 and then beat Bristow
48-15. The Jr High Cardinals will travel to Oologah this weekend
for a tournament and both teams will be in action Tuesday the
11th of December as they host Inola at the
Middle School Gym.
