Members of Collinsville's
Home Representative Club met December 4, 2007 at the Community Church
for their annual Christmas party and gift exchange. The delicious dinner
provided by Jeanie Barnes and Anita Mitchell was catered by Pam Webb.
In lieu of the usual exchange gifts, members had previously agreed to
purchase only small token gifts for their Secret Sisters, and donate the
remainder of their gift funds to the Heifer International Organization.
Over $400 was raised during the meeting, making it possible to purchase
a water buffalo, a llama, and one flock of chickens. These animals and
birds will be purchased by the Heifer organization in foreign countries
and given to needy families, fighting poverty and hunger, and helping
families move towards self-reliance. Heifer International assisted more
than 140,000 families last year.
Krista Nall (granddaughter of Alberta Bonebrake) was welcomed as a new
member to the club, joining Susan Babbitt, Bobbie Loveless, Dee Fidles,
Carolyn Brinkley, Margaret Waldorf, Linda Vickers, Helen Murphy, Barbara
Colpitt, EvaJo Sheehan, Kitty Thomas, Marsha Nachtigall, Linda Pfeffer,
Rusti Howard, Jill Oliver, and guests Brinkley Howard and Sarah Feline. |
