CHS Football At Pryor
2017 Varsity Football Cardinals Won 28-21 Holding Off Late Rally
(Band In St. Louis)
Collinsville kickoff coverage team waiting to see if Pryor will actually kick from a cluster formation or not.
Colton Allphen (#1) took the short opening kickoff into Pryor territory to the 41 yard line.
On the first play from scrimmage Hayden West ran 41 yards for Collinsville's first touchdown at 11:44 in the first quarter. Ashton Jones kicked the extra point for a quick 7-0 lead.
I don't keep defensive stats, so I don't know how many tackles?, but recall Kenlee Hall's (#42) name called numerous time by the announcer for defensive stops. He and Adam Carney (#55) provided pressure on this Pryor pass attempt.
Pryor followed the initial Collinsville score with a lengthy drive (from their own 20 to the Cards 7) before Walker Roberts (#23) intercepted this Pryor pass with 5:01 left in the first quarter
With the Collinsville Band in St. Louis for the Bands of America marching competition, the Collinsville cheerleaders had the task to keep a good sized crowd of Cardinal fans fired up.
Quarterback Carson Stout (#2) fires a pass to the sidelines to Walker Roberts (below) with Hayden West (#33) providing protection.
Walker Roberts (#23) reached the endzone from 41 yards out with Stout's pass but the play was called back to the 46 for a block in the back.
The Collinsville offense checks their wrist bands with the call from the sideline and Walker Roberts behind center and Carson Stout split out as a receiver on this 2nd quarter play (completed in two photos below).
Walker Roberts (#23) launched this pass down to about the five yard line below.
A combination of two Cardinal receivers colliding, after an early hit not called against the Pryor defender, saw this 2nd quarter Roberts pass fall incomplete.
These lineman don't get enough credit for the success of the Cardinals. From top to bottom: Grayson Boomer (#18), Spencer Oslin (#65), Adam Carney (#55), Karson Cole (#60), Tres Sexton (#59), Zach Robbins (#64), and Gage Tacker (#84).
Carson Stout (#2) kept for this 28 yard TD run at 6:10 in the 2nd quarter. Ashton Jones' extra point put Collinsville up 14-0.
Pryor cut the Cardinal's lead in half with a 66 yard TD pass play with 5:36 left in the first half (14-7). On the next play from scrimmage Hayden West covered 79 yards to the endzone only to have a long walk back after a holding call placed the ball at Collinsville's 14 at 5:21.
Collinsville covered 86 yards (with big gainers by Stout and Roberts) with Carson Stout covering the last few inches to put Collinsville on top 21-7 with Jones' PAT and 1:15 left in the first half.
Even without his arms up, a hop by Grayson Boomer (#18) proved enough distraction for the Pryor QB to throw this pass out of bounds in the closing minute of the first half.
This 3rd quarter tackle by Trey Eberle (#14) had he and the Pryor ball carrier airborne.
Carson Stout (#2) and Grayson Boomer (#18) connected on this early 4th quarter pass play with Jake Tuttle (#21) blocking.
Carson Stout (#2) tries to jump between Spencer Oslin and Grayson Boomer for additional yardage on this 4th quarter carry near the sidelines.
Hayden West had just had another potential TD run called back (hold) but finished the deal on the very next play with this 28 yard TD run with 8:58 left in the game. Jones kicked the extra point for a 28-7 score.
Collinsville held off a final Pryor rally which included two late 4th quarter touchdowns (2 yard run at 4:44 and 7 yard pass at 2:25) and the Cardinals fielding 2 onside kickoff attempts. Walker Roberts went high to grab this big hop on the final onside kick. Collinsville then gained one first down and ran out the clock for their 3rd district win (against 2 losses). Claremore and Skiatook remain on the regular season schedule.
The Pryor cheerleaders gathered with the Collinsville cheerleaders before the game for a quick photo & prayer.
