CHS Football -vs- Pryor
Cardinals Won 21-14
Rainy Senior Night
Band Light Show Cancelled
District foes Pryor (3-5 on the season headed into this game) and Collinsville (3-4) faced off on a rainy Friday In Collinsville on Senior Night for the Cardinals. Collinsville came out with a 21-14 victory to even their record at 4-4.
The Halloween garbed CCC Band played the Nation Anthem before the game but their anticipated annual lights-out show half-time performance was cancelled due to the continued rain throughout the game.
The band was "fronted" by senior football player cutouts on the south endzone fence.
Pryor got the best of the 1st quarter (scoring on a 35 yard keeper at 7:35) but in the final minute of the quarter they were pinned inside their own 1 yard line by a Seth Boomer punt. There were some empty seats during the wet/cold game but the student section (The Trap) and other loyal fans stayed to cheer on their Cardinals. Other fans watched on Cardinal TV.
Pryor attempted this pass from their endzone but defender Brett Erickson (#11) intercepted at Pryor's 41 in the final seconds of the first quarter setting up the first Cardinal points (below).
Junior Brett Erickson (#11) scored at 11:40 of the 12-minute 2nd quarter on this 42 yard TD pass from Seth Boomer. Cole Hadley kicked the extra point to tie the score at 7-7.
Junior Seth Boomer (#12) gave Collinsville its first lead of the game on a 15 yard QB keeper at 7:51 in the second quarter. Hadley's kick made the score 14-7.
Junior Blake Burd (#22) with good yardage in the 2nd quarter with the "Seniors" watching from the fence.
The cheerleaders featured the seniors in their half-time "Thriller" dance routine.
Brett Erickson (#11) scored what proved to be the winning touchdown on a 45 yard TD pass from Seth Boomer at 10:07 in the 3rd quarter. Hadley's kick set the score at 21-14.
Senior Roc Robbins (#44) shut down this 3rd quarter Pryor play before it could get started.
Senior Justin Collins (#21) had a grip on this sideline pass before the defender knocked it loose.
Pryor had scored on a 7 yard TD pass at 8:49 in the 4th quarter (21-14) and was threatning again in Collinsville territory in the final minutes when pressure by freshman Grayson Boomer (#87) and senior Polo Patterson (#27) influenced this pass attempt which was intercepted (below).
Senior Tyler Forrest (#1) intercepted at the 7 yard line with 1:19 left in the game to kill the final Pryor threat.
Collinsville made it a little more interesting than expected running out the final minute as they used up most of their 7 yards taking knees before a final push out beyond the five to close out the game and the win.
Since I don't have light show photos ... I'll use these pre-game "lighted" photos of the band in their Halloween costumes. -- Ted
