Sam West (#13) reached the 7 yard line with a Seth Boomer pass after Collinsville got the ball the first time at Grove's 32 following their first punt. Sheaffer Smith reached the 3 yard line on the next play but a motion penalty and two incompletions led to a Cole Hadley field goal.
The mystery pushup student had an easy task (3 pushups) after Cole Hadley's field goal at 9:04 in the first quarter ... but got a good work out as the score climbed in the later quarters.

Sheaffer Smith (#25) with a 2nd quarter gain.
Junior running back Blake Burd (#22) suffered what had been feared to be a season ending shoulder injury in the first game of the season, but after sitting out the next 4 games he was cleared to play against Grove and he took full advantage of his limited playing time. He scored (above) on a 21 yard Seth Boomer pass play at 8:46 in the second quarter (and a 10-0 score after Hadley's PAT kick). Burd also scored a rushing touchdown later in the 2nd quarter.
Grove countered the first Cardinal touchdown with a 63 yard scoring drive that ended with a 4 yard TD pass with 3:24 left in the 2nd quarter and a 10-7 score.
A short Seth Boomer (#12) pass to Brett Erickson (below) turned into a 58 yard touchdown at 2:47 in the second quarter.
Brett Erickson (#11) weaved his way through the Grove defense for a 58 yard TD pass play to boost Collinsville's lead to 17-7.

Marcus Tillman picked up 22 yards rushing. This set up a 22 yard TD by Blake Burd (#22 below). -- I'd call that a "22" drive. -- Ted
