Collinsville,

August 25, 2017 CHS Football -vs- East Central |
East
Central barely got this first quarter punt off with a big Collinsville
rush.

Quarterback Tate Robards (#8) directed the Collinsville offense for the first three quarters in season opener at Sallee Field on a pleasant Friday evening.
Jake Tuttle (#21) with a big opening up the middle on this first quarter run from the East Central 25.
Brayden Burd (#22) finally got Collinsville on the scoreboard early in the second quarter (after a scoreless first quarter including a missed field goal). Burd covered the final 4 yards with the first of seven Collinsville touchdowns. Credit Caden Weathers (#74) and several other blockers for clearing the way on the first score of the season.
Walker Roberts (#23) runs by "The Trap" student section on his way to the endzone with a "pick 6" just a few plays after Burd's TD. Roberts picked off the East Central pass and scored with 10 minutes left in the second quarter. Seth Weiser's extra point kick was good and the score 13-0.

Carson Stout (#2) picked off his first East Central pass at mid-field to set up the 3rd Collinsville touchdown (below).
Jake Tuttle (#21) capped off a 50 yard drive and scored from one yard out at 5:16 in the second quarter bringing the score to 19-0.
Carson Stout (#2) picked off his 2nd East Central pass and took in in himself this time for a touchdown from about 20 yards out with 4:55 left before half and the score to 26-0.
Spencer
Oslin (#65) rushed this East Central pass.
|
|||||||||||||||||||
Defender Carter Lowe (#25) and the intended East Central receiver both had their hands on this pass but Carter wrestled it away and reached the EC 40 setting up Collinsville for another score before halftime. Seth Weiser kicked a field goal with 50 seconds left (4th and goal from the 10) for a 29-0 half-time score.
Malcom
Tillman (#24) got Collinsville down to the 9 yard line on two runs before
the half.
|
|||||||||||||||||||
This Collinsville defender got his jersey stretched out by the East Central blocker in the final seconds of the first half.
There may have been more ... but these former Cardinals were back watching the 2017 football birds in the home opener (L-R): Sam West, Levi Draper, Seth Boomer, Jake Harrison, Blake Burd, Brannon Jordan, Nate Keim, and Brandon Lowe.
|
|||||||||||||||||||
The Crimson Cadet Band took the field for part of their 2017 marching program ("Wild") featuring western movie music.
There
was even a military fly-over at halftime (likely unplanned on our part).
|
|||||||||||||||||||
The Collinsville ground game (with a host of experienced backs) was solid enough that the passing game played only a minor role this Friday. Tate Robards (#8) did air this one out early in the second half but it was incomplete.
Tate Robards (#8) kept for a 3-yard touchdown run at 8:31 in the 3rd quarter to bring the score to 35-0 with a failed extra point attempt run which came up just short.
Collinsville punted only one time Friday but it was very successful with Cale Hutchens (#9) pinning East Central at their own two yard line.
Carter Lowe (#25) nearly got a safety for Collinsville on the last play of the 3rd quarter. The ball was placed inside the one yard line to start the fourth quarter.
Trey Eberle (#14) scored the sixth touchdown from the 6 yard line with an assist from Isaac House's (#77) big block with 11:05 remaining in the 4th quarter.
Cole Dugger (#12) finished out the fourth quarter as quarterback and scored the 7th Collinsville touchdown from the 8 yard line. Can't say exactly what time it occured as the clock kept running (I assume by mutual coach agreement?). I think the score was with about a minute and a half left but there was only time for a kickoff before there were zeros on the clock and a 47-0 win. -- Ted
