Pre-game activities continued through a light rain that cleared up briefly before the opening kickoff at 7:30pm.
Dylan Cook (#18) took the opening kickoff all the way back for a touchdown to give Collinsville an almost instant lead. The Card's 2nd possession was interrupted about an hour by lightning at Catoosa.
Athen Shambrook (#90) added his first (of 4) extra point kicks just a few minutes into the game after Dylan Cook's kickoff return (right).
Collinsville started their 2nd possession of the game at the 15 yard line and had driven out near mid field when the field and stands were cleared (below) due to nearby lightning. The players returned in just under an hour after the lightning (and rain) had passed by.
After the lengthy delay Collinsville ran one more play of their 2nd possession before puting to Catoosa. Conner Crutchfield intercepted a Catoosa pass setting Collinsville up again at Catoosa's 46 yard line. Zane McElroy (#4 above) completed that possession with the 28 yard keeper. Shambrook's kick put Collinsville up 14-0 with 2:11 still left in the 1st quarter.
T. J. Johnson (#6) had already beaten his defender and was ready to haul in this 9 yard TD pass from Zane McElroy with 9:23 left in the 3rd quarter.
The Collinsville Crimson Cadet band came dressed and ready to march their half time show but the weather kept them on the sidelines (actually Catoosa's track) where they entertained instead.
I'm not positive if Zane McElroy (#4) scored on this keeper (or the next which was a total blur in my camera) but he scored his 2nd first half TD on a 33 yard TD run 1:48 before half time.
Athen Shambrook (#90) kicked this field goal with the line of scrimmage at the 18 yard line as time expired on the first half. That sent the Cardinals to the locker room with a 24-3 lead.
Conner Crutchfield (#11) had several good gains in a late third quarter drive that ended with an Athen Shambrook field goal with 1:17 left in the 3rd quarter. The Card were facing a 4th and 3 from the 23. Shambrook's kick put the score at 34-3.
Chase Wilkins (#7) ran back Catoosa's kickoff to their 22 (following Catoosa's 12 yard TD pass with 6:23 left in the game).
Quarterback Shawn Koscheski (#1) handoffs to Marcus Redwine (#3) provided most of the Cardinal 4th quarter offense as they ran out the clock.
