Department Facebook Post (12/23/2016) -- The Collinsville Police Department and Corporal Josh Ray mourn the loss of K9 Officer Indy. End of Watch December 22, 2016. Indy was born June 14, 2008 and began his service to CPD on June 18, 2012 with his partner and handler, Cpl. Josh Ray. Indy was a dual certified German Shepherd who was trained in both apprehension and narcotics detection. He was gifted to the department by a private donor in 2012. During his time in service to the City of Collinsville, Indy successfully detected illegal drugs on numerous occasions in homes and vehicles in Collinsville. His accomplishments allowed officers to remove these dangerous substances from the community and seek justice for the offenders; thereby making the city a safer place for all. Cpl. Josh Ray and CPD made the decision to retire Indy just over a year ago. His last day of duty was September 29, 2015. Indy was well loved by his fellow officers and others in the community who are thankful for his service. Indy lived with Cpl. Ray and his family from the time he joined the department in 2012. After his retirement, Indy was able to become a full time family member with Cpl. Ray, his wife and their three children. He was loved dearly and given a rich life by his family. Indy provided companionship, loyalty, and protection to the Ray family, and he will be greatly missed. Memorial services for K9 Officer Indy are pending. |
