CHS Football -vs- Memorial
5A Playoff Round One
Collinsville Cardinals Advance With Convincing Win Over Memorial
Will Host Lawton Mac Next Week
This Tyler Forrest (#81) 4th quarter interception (with Chandler Cole #6 just missing) helped seal the deal as Collinsville's secondary came up with 4 interceptions on the evening. The play ended up at the Card's 10 yard line with 5 minutes left in the game and the score 27-6.
Justin Kothe (#45) nearly got a hand on this Memorial screen pass early in the first quarter.
Neither Chase Wilkins (#7) nor Memorial's intended receiver could come up with this 1st quarter pass.
Chase Wilkins (#7) did intercept the next Memorial pass and after crossing over the mid-field Cardinal Head made it all the way down to Memorial's 24 yard line with 4:05 left in the first quarter. That set up Collinsville's first score below.
QB Shawn Koscheski (#7) faked the handoff up the middle and made it around the right end from the 24 down to the 7 following Wilkins' interception. Koscheski covered the last 7 yards on the next play at 3:52 in the first quarter. Cole Hadley kicked the extra point for a 7-0 score.
This Memorial rushing attempt was stopped by a gang of Cardinal tacklers and the Memorial possession ended with a short punt that set Collinsville up at Memorial's 37 yard line.
It took just one play for the second Cardinal scoring drive with Brett Erickson (#11) taking a Shawn Koscheski pass over the shoulder and out racing the defender for a 37 yard TD with 1:20 left in the first quarter. Hadley's kick made it 14-0.
The next Cardinal possession started at their own 4 yard line after a Memorial punt. Blake Burd (#22) has just taken the handoff from Koscheski and is heading into a big hole created by the offensive line for a 50 yard carry (from Collinsville's 11 to Memorial's 39). An interference call on 4th down kept the 96 yard TD drive alive.
Shawn Koscheski (#1) with a pass attempt in the 96 yard 2nd quarter scoring drive.
Shawn Koscheski (#1) eluded the defenders for a 12 yard TD run with 4:25 left in the first half. Hadley's kick was blocked and the score was 20-0. Memorial scored their only points of the evening on their next possession with a 26 yard TD pass with 1:06 left before the half. Their kick failed and the half time score was 20-6.
Collinsville's wide receivers lined up for the final first half plays with the band preparing for their final "Rememberance" salute to our nation's veterans.
Chandler Cole (#6) had an early 3rd quarter interception wiped out by an interference call against Collinsville. Tyler Forrest (#81) made up for that with an interception on a tipped ball on the next play.
Ryan Haymaker (#25) scored Collinsville's final touchdown on this 7 yard run at 9:34 in the 4th quarter. Cole Hadley's kick set the eventual final score at 27-6.
Chandler Cole (#6) intercepted this Memorial pass at Collinsville's 21 yard line with 6:44 left in the game.
Ryan Haymaker (#25) helped Collinsville run out the clock in the final minutes after Tyler Forrest's final interception (show in the photo at the top of the page)

Congratulations To The CHS Football Cardinals ...

I don't have an exact count yet but recall an abundance of interceptions by Collinsville, and Koscheski TDs, and Memorial procedure penalties.

I just finished my selection and photo upload to the Tulsa World ... so that slideshow should be ready before morning. I'll start my cvilleok selections now. -- Ted 11pm Friday
