CHS Football -vs- Tahlequah
24-10 Homecoming Win For The Cardinals With Solid Defense
Intercepted Tahlequah 3 Times
Collinsville was just up 3 points (10-7) well into the 3rd quarter when Tahlequah tried a halfback pass which Marcus Tillman (#24) intercepted and returned from near midfield for Cardinal touchdown. Cole Hadley kicked the extra point for a 17-7 score. Brandon Lowe had 2 interceptions on the evening. Collinsville only had one turnover with a fumble eary in the3rd quarter. There was a full day of Homecoming activities Friday before the football game kicked off (with a pep rally at he high school, a parade downtown, and a pre-game cornation). Homecoming Queen Baylee Eigenheer and King Shawn Koscheski were all grins after a big kiss planted by Koscheski. Flower girl Josey Jones and crown bearer Jaxx Stout shared the moment. I'll have more photos of homecoming activities on a separate page later. -- Ted
Blake Burd (#22) got the defense rolling early with this sack of Tahlequah's QB for an 8 yard loss on the first play from scrimmage. Roc Robbins (#44) and Jacob Harrison (#51) are there to assist if necessary.
Brandon Lowe (#2) didn't bring any smiles to the Tahlequah bench as he intercepted a Tahlequah pass at Collinsville's 41 yard line ending the Tiger's first possession at 8:15 in the 1st quarter.
Collinsville Cardinal offense
Ryan Haymaker (#25) rushed from Tahlequah's 45 yard line down to the 16 for the big gain in Collinsville's first possession.
Ryan Haymaker (#25) scored the first points of the game on this 5 yard run at 5:26 in the first quarter (Collinsville's 1st possession after the Lowe interception). Cole Hadley's kick made the score 7-0.
Levi Draper (#10) stopped Tahlequah's QB on this play with the flag already flying for the QB's stiff arm attempt that drew a facemask penalty that was declined bringing up a 4th and 6. Collinsville then held them short on the 4th down attempt and took over to start their second scoring drive of the evening at 10:08 in the 2nd quarter. Collinsville reached the 12 yard line setting up a Cole Hadley field goal at 7:28 before half and a 10-0 lead.
Even if you are wearing your fancy Homecoming Royalty dresses you still get out and cheer with your Academic State Champ Cheer teammates -- (L-R) Queen Baylee Eigenheer, Freshman Attendant Annie Haught, and Senior Attendant Courtney Tairent.
The Crimson Cadet Band members were on Sallee Field Friday performing their patriotic "Rememberance 2014" marching show. They will perform at the Bixby Contest Saturday Oct. 4th.
Brandon Lowe (#2) was near the Tahlequah sideline again for his 2nd interception but had more friendly faces around for this one. This one came at 9:17 in the 3rd quarter and got the ball back to Collinsville following a Cardinal fumble a few plays earlier.
Blake Burd (#22) with a nice 3rd quarter gain near mid-field.
Michael McAtee (#76) applied just enough pressure on this Tahlequah trick play for the back to throw an interception (back across the field) which Marcus Tillman (see photo at the top of this page) ran in for a Cardinal touchdown at 5:23 in the 3rd quarter. Hadley's kick put the score at 17-7.
Three Collinsville defenders stopped Tahlequah near the 7 yard line on this play. A penalty, then a Josh Arnold sack pushed them back to the 20 before they kicked a field goal with 1:38 left in the 3rd quarter for a 17-10 score.
Brett Erickson (#11) returned Tahlequah's kickoff deep into Tahlequah territory but a holding call brought it all the way back to the Cards 31.
Shawn Koscheski (#1) had an apparent 4th quarter touchdown run called back by a holding penalty with 6:10 left in the game.
Ryan Haymaker (#25) scored his second touchdown on this 2 yard run with 3:23 left in the game. Hadley's kick set the final score at 24-10.
Cole Hadley (#9) with the kickoff after Haymaker's touchdown (above).
The Cardinal defense played solid all night giving up just 3 2nd half points and Tahlequah's first half touchdown came on a 4th down play.
