A great Collinsville crowd made the trip to Tahlequah Friday and did a pretty good job filling up the massive visitor's stands at NSU college stadium.
T. J. Johnson (#6) caught this 10 yard Zane McElroy TD pass with 5 seconds left in the first quarter (on 4th and 8th). The extra point kick was wide and the score 6-0. The Collinsville scoring drive covered 80 yards with carries by Ryan Haymaker and Zane McElroy and came on the Card's second possession of the game. The play was also on the Channel 6 helicopter TV highlights of the game.
Dylan Cook (#18), Shawn Koscheski (#1) and Brandon Lowe (#2) broke up this Tahlequah pass attempt at the goal line forcing a field goal try on 4th and 13. Tahlequah converted the kick at 6:06 in the second quarter for a 6-3 score.
One of many Zane McElroy (#4) quarter back keepers in this the 4th game since his return to action this season. The play reached the Tahlequah 47 with Collinsville driving late in the first half.
Collinsville was at Tahlequah's 35 yard line (leading 6-3) with 2:36 left in the first half. They eventually reached the 25 but turned the ball over there on downs with an incompletion on 4th and 5 with just 39 seconds left in the half.
Tahlequah used the last 39 seconds of the first half to pass their way 75 yards (4 completed passes including a hook and ladder play to the 20 with 9 seconds left) to the endzone (below). The play above was the first and reached midfield from the 25.
This Tahlequah pass play (and a missed extra point kick) gave them the halftime lead at 6-9 with 4 second left.
Collinsville started the 2nd half with a 66 yard scoring drive capped by a 6 yard Ryan Haymaker TD run at 8:50 in the 3rd quarter (below). Sergio Perez's kick made the score 13-9. The play above follows Haymaker salvaging the drive by tracking down an errant snap at midfield after Collinsville had reached Tahlequah's 37 on the previous play.
This Zane McElroy (#4) pass To Tyler Forest (#81) reached the 18 in Collinsville opening drive of the 2nd half.
Ryan Haymaker (#25) drug a defender the final 2 yards of his 6 yard TD run for the first score in the second half.
In Collinsville's 2nd possession of the 2nd half this McElroy pass to T.J. Johnson was not completed but an interference call placed the ball at Tahlequah's 30 yard line.
Zane McElroy is somewhere in the middle of the pile at the goal line scoring on a 5 yard keeper at 3:16 in the 3rd quarter to complete a 51 yard drive on the 2nd possession of the 2nd half. The kick was wide and the score 19-9.
Dylan Cook (#18) intercepted this Tahlequah pass at the Tahlequah 33 yard line with 1:52 left in the 3rd quarter.
Dylan Cook (#18) caught this 23 yard TD pass from Zane McElroy on the first play of the 4th quarter (to help cash in on his interception above). Sergio Perez's kick was good and Collinsville had what seemed a comfortable 26-9 lead.
Brandon Lowe (#2) has punt return to midfield that was moved back to the 22 on a holding penalty early in the 4th quarter.
Collinsville had given up 2 straight 4th quarter Tahlequah touchdowns (both 60 yard drives) that had wiped out most of Collinsville lead at 26-23. Dylan Cook returned the kickoff out to the Card's 32 where they started the play above with under 4 minutes left in the game.
From their own 32 McElroy lofted a pass to Keenan Hamilton (#20) who split the coverage up the middle for a 68 yard 1-play scoring drive. Sergio Perez kicked the extra point and Collinsville had a 33-23 score with 3:41 left in the game.
T. J. Johnson (#6) intercepted a Tahlequah pass and returned it to the Card's 40 to quash Tahlequah's come back threat (having reached the Cards 29 before a sack back to the 35). Collinsville was able to run out the clock to ensure the District Championship and a home playoff game next Friday.
