12th & Main Turn Lane Finally
A turn lane to allow west-bound Main Street traffic to turn south (at 12th Street by the Pharmacy) was reconfigured today from a mistake first made in the late stages of the Phase I Streetscape project completed in May 2009. The old paint on the A-frame shaped lane separator was removed (below) and the proper marking added (above).
New Lane For Main/Highway 20 ... Part of S-Curve Project
The widening of Main Street (to 4 lanes) continues ... now on the north side of Main in the 1600 block this week above. The south side extra lane work began in June 2011.
With west-bound Main closed to traffic the old lane is being stripped down below the asphalt (and apparently the original bricks) ... unless this is just a drainage cut?
A tree was removed from the (former) yard/right-of-way of a home near 17th and Main for the lane addition (along with several mail boxes).
