The City wishes to thank our citizens for their patience and assistance with the extreme winter weather event this past week. City Services are striving to return to a level of normalcy. Sanitation crews began intermittent trash pick ups on Thursday February 4th with limited success. Friday February 5th is proving more successful however normal trash routes are impossible at this time. The city is coordinating alley clearance and sanitation service to allow the trucks access to commercial dumpsters as well as contracting heavy equipment services to clear neighborhoods. Weather permitting normal scheduled trash routes will begin on Monday February 7th, 2011. Again we wish to thank everyone for assisting their neighbors and for their understanding during this winter event. -- Phil Stowell (Public Works Director, City of Collinsville) (918) 371-1010 Ext. 2028 -- pstowell@cityofcollinsville.com -- Friday 2/4/2011
Baptist Tabernacle - Sunday Services (Feb 6) -- We will be having Sunday School (10am) and Morning Worship (10:55am) on Feb. 6th. We will announce if we are going to have the evening service that morning. Please be careful. We love you all and want to see you on Sunday, but if your roads are bad, we want you to be safe. The parking lot is being cleared as I type this, but it maybe icy on Sunday. Be aware that at this time, the ramps coming off of 169 have not been plowed and are tough to travel on. -- Pastor Cate & Pastor Dwayne (Isaiah 41:10) -- P.S. The "Hotrods & Poodleskirts: We Love You" Banquet will postponed to next Saturday, Feb. 12th @ 5pm -- Friday 2/4/2011
Due to the weather and parking lot conditions, Collinsville Community Church has cancelled church servcies for Sunday, February 6, 2011. Stay warm! -- Friday 2/4/2011
Again ...Collinsville city crews were out plowing streets Wednesday ... following the 3rd snow in about a week. And Again ... I don't know how to guage drifting snow ... but the 8 and 1/2 inches in front of the Museum was pretty consistant in the short sidewalk space that had been cleared from previous snows... but I'm going with 6 inches over all as my best guess -- Ted -- Feb. 9th
Hey Ted - I heard that Collinsville was on the Noon News yesterday (although, unfortunately, I did not see it). Apparently they were commending our wonderful Townsfolks and all of the individuals who volunteered to help clear the streets so the kids could return to school.

I am writing because I'd love to see an article on your website about how our awesome community pulls together. From our own experience, I can tell you I am humbled and in awe of the awesome neighbors we have. The snowstorm last week left us feeling overwhelmed and stressed (and trying desperately, and without much success, to get out from under the snow)!

Then along came our neighbors. One neighbor used his tractor and plow to clear not only our street but our driveway and numerous others, spending hours upon hours in the cold. Another neighbor came along and not only finished clearing our driveway, but cleared a path all the way back to my husband's shop (which helped him immensely as he is a Contractor!). I know that he, as well, helped numerous other folks get un-dug! Beyond what they did for us, I'd be willing to bet they were in town helping where needed, as well - there is no telling how many hours of their time were spent and how much of their own money was spent on fuel for this equipment.

It truly brings tears to my eyes, thinking of these individuals and how selfless they, and numerous others, have been over the last week and, no doubt, will continue to be with this most recent snowstorm. Times like these truly bring out the Hero in folks and I think that's worth celebrating (and at least, worth mentioning on your webpage, don't you think?). I simply love our community and I feel priviledged to be a part of it.

Thanks so much,Tracy Baldwin (2/9/2011)
Does anyone know an official snowfall number for Collinsville?
Did not receive a single estimate from cvilleok.com viewers for the first (Feb. 1) snow. -- Ted 2/11/2011
Collinsville Schools will be in session Tuesday with the following notice on the school's web site:
Tuesday 2-8-11, buses will run snow routes!

Notices were sent out two months ago to those students affected by the snow/ice routes. The letter stated that the buses will go along the main roads. The buses will not go down any dead-end streets or turn-a-round roads.
8 of last 10 School Days Missed
No Streetscape Progress
Merchants & Workers Losing $'s
City & County Spending $'s
I'm using these snow days to clear driveway (home) and sidewalk (museum) and make progress on 2011 Senior pages. I keep taking photos of snow scenes but since it looks the same out the front window of every Collinsville residence see no reason to put more online. Not a single person has responded to my quest for an "official" or at least reasonable Collinsville snow fall estimate. I concur with Brad's comment (below) on the city doing a great job on the streets so far. It will be interesting to see how we all deal with the next phase of cleanup given the magnitude of snow as school and businesses try to return to "normal". -- Ted Wright 11:30am Friday 2/4/2011
I wanted to take a moment to thank the City of Collinsville Street Department for the outstanding job they have done on our streets the past few days. Thanks to all of you, we were able to at least get one truck out on the second day and two today to get to our customers that did not have heat. I’ve even seen our City trucks in the outlying neighborhoods today! Our streets are in better shape than 169, HWY 20, and Owasso’s streets and I’ve had to drive on all of them! So once again thanks to all of you for all the hard work and long hours you’ve put in, just to make everybody else’s lives a little easier. -- Thank You, Brad Overholt (Overholt Heating and Air) 2/3/2011 5:30pm Thursday
