Police Station Visit / Slow Jail Start
A group of youngsters from "Its a Small World" daycare got to see the light and sirens on a Collinsville Police car as Acting Collinsville Police Chief Daniel Boggs talked with them Monday (June 21, 2010) outside the PoliceStation. In the background is the first signof construction for the new city jail. There has been little visible activity since the June 3rd jail ground breaking. Boggs indicated the soill testing (by Shaw/Collinsville Soil Program) was not yet completed, but that he expected an increase in activity soon. He indicated that there would be minimal interruption inside the existing offices until the August/September timeframe when 4 feet of access to the outside wall would cause several work-arounds to on-going police activities indoors.
..
The main "construction" activity Monday was actually the removal of the Police Station sign and supporting brickwork.
July 4th Veterans Celebration
This proclamation of City support for the First Baptist Church's activities to honor Collinsville veterans was read by Mayor Stan Sallee Monday June 21, 2010, at the City Commission Meeting. The "Homeland Celebration" will be heldSunday July 4th at the Church on either side of 13th Street between Main and Center.
Pastor Tim Prock (right) accepted the proclamation from Mayor Stan Sallee.
CHS 1969 Reunion -- Saturday June 26, 2010 at CHS (5pm)
These are just a small sample of the photos that are already on the few pages I have completed for CHS 1969 classmates that have submitted information on what they've been up to for the past 41 years since CHS graduation. Links to those pages and more reunion info can be found at

Don Long's Valedictorian Address

Note: We were the first senior class at the new high school (for just a few months in the spring of 1969) when the building was first opened. We did go back to the old gym for graduation ceremonies in May of 1969. I spent 11+ years attending school on the block where the current day middle school sits as I also attended Central Grade School (1st-6th) there before moving into the 3-story high school building in 7th grade. Other classmates attended Washington and/or Wilson before starting 7th grade. -- Ted Wright

You might not recognize me with hair on top of my head instead of my chin. -- Ted

Also Note: Other classes, former classmates and friends are welcome to drop by to visit during the 5-7pm reception at CHS Saturday

This is the first full reunion for the class since a ten-year reunion in 1979.
