Collinsville Times Star (5/10/2019) Facebook: Cards suffer loss in state baseball tournament

Collinsville's varsity baseball Cardinals suffered a tough 5 to 3 loss to Carl Albert High School in Friday's semi-finals in the Class 5A State Tournament held at Broken Arrow High School. The Cards had the bases loaded with two out in the bottom of the seventh inning but failed to capitalize.
Tony Reeder's squad finishes the year with a 29 and 11 record. Congratulations to the Cardinal players and coaches!! You made us very proud!!!

Kenlee Hall started on the mound.
Cooper Gorrell relieved early
Cale Hutchens prevented further 1st inning damage with this leaping catch at the centerfield wall after Carl Albert jumped out to a 3 run lead (including two homers).
Collinsville jumped right back into the game in their half of the first inning with this 2-run shot off the bat of Brett Trimble.
Hayden Barnes scored first off Trimble's double.
Peyton Russell followed with the second Cardinal run off Trimble's 1st inning hit to the wall.
Hayden Minton (who had walked to load the bases for Trimble) rounded third but was stopped by Coach Reeder as the ball approached the infield with the score now 2-3.
After Jordan Wilkins finished this trip around the bases (below) the score was tied at 3 each in the 2nd inning with his solo homer.
Short stop Isaac Webb to second baseman Brett Trimble for this out.
Collinsville picked this Carl Albert runner off second base in the 4th inning.
Positive dugout support helped Conner Duncan draw a walk to lead off the home half of the 4th inning.
Duncan reach 3rd based but the Cards missed the opportunity to break the 3-3 tie in the 4th.
Alert defense helped Collinsville get this lead runner (between 2nd & 3rd) in the 5th. Carl Albert scored one in the 5th and one in the 6th for the difference in the game.
Carl Albert started the celebration after escaping the Cardinals loading the bases in the 7th with two out (Barnes walk, Minton single, Hutchens walk) but being unable to convert. This ended Collinsville's season and sent Carl Albert to the finals against Pryor at OneOK the next day, with Pryor the victor there for the 5A title..
