Collinsville
Tennis 4/6/2017
Thursday,
William Reynolds was staring at a 2,500 pound Brahman
Bull. This particular bull happened to be the 1-singles
division of the Ponca City Invitational Tennis Tournament.
Collinsville
vs Edmond Memorial: William dominated this match from
start to finish. The 6-A Bulldogs were muzzled and taken
to the pound.
Collinsville
vs Bixby:
This match had all the ingredients for a dramatic affair.
William, the 3-seed, faced off against the 2-seed from
Bixby. Moreover, several Spartans had gathered around
the court hoping to distract William with their banter.
While the ingredients for drama were present, William
didnt feel like cooking. He disposed of the Spartans
in short order. The Spartan advance was turned back by
the 98 square inch Wilson racquet wielded by Reynolds.
Collinsville
vs Oklahoma Bible Academy:
This would prove to be the toughest match of the day.
William took the court against the overall 1-seed in the
tournament. His opponent also placed second in the state
tournament last year. William began the match on offense.
He won the first set, 6-0. To their credit, OBA fought
back with ferocity. They took the second set 6-4. Before
the tie-breaker, OBA parents and fans could be heard asking,
where the heck is Collinsville?. They can
now check their map, because on Thursday, William put
Collinsville on it. He won the tie-breaker 10-8, and took
home the gold. What about that Brahman Bull? It was wrestled
to the ground, its horns in Williams hands.
