70 Years Ago -- March 7, 1946 " The Collinsville News" -- Commander Kay Bayouth reports that erection of the Veterans Building in Collinsville will be started just as soon as material is obtainable, and this is expected to be possible soon. The Veterans propose to build the building large enough to play basketball in. They have purchased enough ground to make it possible to build a softball field for summer use. This they expect to light so that it may be used for night games.

70 Years Ago -- May 30, 1946 " The Collinsville News" -- Harry Hamilton, the local contractor and builder, is very busy at the present time. He has just laid the concrete footings for the Legion home in Collinsville; built a dairy and hay barn for a Mr. Fry near Skiatook, has a contract to build a two-story business building for Mrs. J. A. Owen's flower shop in Skiatook. Hamilton is also erecting a building at the corner of 12th and Oak street for Mrs. Poyner. This is to be occupied by a "help-yourself" laundry.
