JB's Market Ribbon Cutting
"Grand Opening" Ceremony For Store That Started in Collinsville In July 2014 But 69 Years Total For Family Owned Business
Collinsville Chamber of Commerce members and Collinsville City officials joined a bunch of green shirted JB's Market management and employees from Collinsvile and other local stores here Friday January 16, 2015 for a ceremonial ribbon cutting. The Brown family started their first grocery store in 1946 but didn't arrive in Collinsville until July 2014 when they took over the location near 17th and Main formerly occupied by Piggly Wiggly. Owner Jim Brown said he is hoping to find a suitable location for a new building in Collinsville (and possibly two locations). Brown said they will continue to make improvements at the current location in the mean time.
To help mark their 69th year in the grocery business, the company will be giving away a 1969 El Camino. A winner will be selected at each their 8 stores and then those 8 will be in a final drawing at the Bixby store on Feb. 7th.
Pre-cooked chickens and ribs were a new feature at the Collinsville store this week.
The Brown family also owns and operates "Apple Market"s in Oologah, Watonga, Fairview and Newkirk as well as "Country Mart"s in Bixby, Glenpool and Coweta.
