COLLINSVILLE TRI-COUNTY FAIR The 70th annual Tri-County Fair is scheduled August 20 through 22 in downtown Collinsville. Special emphasis is being placed on this years livestock shows as many Oklahoma 4-H and FFA members will be bringing their prize livestock to compete for ribbons and premium money. Many first time exhibitors look forward to gaining experience in the show ring as they prepare for the larger fall fairs. Last year over 230 animals were exhibited by 4-H and FFA students from 30 Oklahoma communities. The West Main Event Center will be the location of several indoor activities. A Youth Art Competition will be open to preschool through 18 years of age. Entry time is Thursday, Aug 20, 5-7 p.m. A Youth Baking competition (bring your favorite home baked cookies) will be open to 6 - 18 years of age. Entries will be accepted Thursday, Aug 20, 5-7 p.m. Ribbons and premium money will be awarded. This year we will commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Tri County Fair with items of interest from previous fairs. A quilt display will be available for viewing so come vote for your favorite quilt among several different categories. Doors will be open to the public Friday and Saturday, 9-4 p.m. Thursday evening the Dog Show will be taking place in the livestock arena with entries being accepted at 6 p.m. and show time around 7 p.m. More information is available on cvilleok.com. All livestock shows take place in the fair barn arena (10th & Center) and schedules include: Friday/Aug 21, Junior Swine Show, 7 p.m. Saturday/Aug 22 four shows are scheduled: Rabbit Show begins at 8:30 a.m. (entries accepted 7-8 a.m.) in the southwest corner of the barn. Beef Show is 8:30 approximately and the Sheep Show is scheduled around 1 p.m. Meat Goat Show will follow the Sheep Show at approximately 5 p.m. Check out cvilleok.com for all show details, rules and regulations. Aside from the livestock shows, other Saturday events will include: The 4-H and FFA tractor driving contest is at 9 a.m., with the location to be announced at a later date. As an added attraction this year for families, Extreme Endeavors will set up inflatables east of the American Legion (Veterans building) Friday evening and all day Saturday. The Collinsville FFA Alumni Group will be in charge of the fair barn concession stand during all livestock shows. Fair exhibitors and attendees are encouraged to support their efforts. The Fair Board will be selling 70th Anniversary t-shirts in the Main Event Center too. At present, the shirts are available at The Feed Store, 13810 N 113th E Ave, Collinsville.
