Coach Todd Anderson had some final advise for his varsity starting five before the start of the boys game. All of the other boys' photos are at the bottom of this page after the girls'. Starters (L-R): Colton Vickers (33), Shawn Koscheski (11), Keagan Hodges (30), Austin Archer (14) and Seth Boomer (21).
The CHS girls starters were Dakota Jefferson (21), Taylor O'Dell (12), Sawyer Salisbury (11), Madie Vaughn (33) and Mallory Vaughn (42).
I have an 8 photo sequence of this "rugby scrum" early in the girls game as the ball changed hands several times and rolled around the floor for several seconds before the play ended.
The first game of the season, district rival Claremore, many family members of former coach Mark Campbell (seated courtside), and Cardinal fans eager for basketball season helped to nearly fill the gym Tuesday. The next home game is Dec. 18th as the Cardinals will host rival Skiatook.

The games were covered live by Collinsville's Cardinal TV (see links below) as well as Claremore's internet TV system. (L-R) Randall Dolan, Logan Willt, Kaylie Byrom, Kirsti Blevins, and Kim Myers. (Sami Harp was on the floor camera).

Dakota Jefferson (#21) had this long 3-point attempt which would have tied the score in the final seconds but did not connect and the Lady Cards start the 2014-15 season with a loss.
There were already some tears from losing the game but they really started when the CHS basketball ladies each presented their former Coach Mark Campbell's widow with a rose and a hug. Coach Campbell lost his battle with cancer Juine 30, 2014.
Coach Mark Campbell was Claremore's coach for many years (before his single year at Collinsville). Both teams celebrated his life and contributions to their teams with a moment of silence after the girls game.
Seth Boomer (#21) started with three 3-pointers (and then a 2-pointer) in the first quarter to lead the Cardinals with 24 total for the evening in the boys victory over Claremore. Austin Archer also had a first quarter 3-pointer as Collinsville led 14-10 starting the second quarter.

The Lady Cards had a 5 point lead at the 6:15 mark in the 3rd quarter (above). They led 44-42 at the start of the 4th quarter. They were ahead 48-44 with just over 4 minutes left but never regained the lead after a 50-50 tie with just under 3 minutes left. Mallory Vaughn (#42) picked up her 4th personal foul just before the end of the 3rd quarter limiting her 4th quarter minutes. |

Shawn Koscheski (#11) hit this late 3-pointer to tie a close game Collinsville had led at half but trailed by 3 at 29-32 with 5 minutes left. The Cardinals out-scored Claremore 12-3 after that. |
