CHS Basketball -vs- Claremore
Collinsville Girls Defeated Claremore With Bixby Cheering Section
Boys Lost On Senior Night
2014 CHS Basketball Seniors (L-R): Madison West (Cheerleader), Micaela Norris (Manager), Rachel Griffin (Manager), Kanyen Cole and Jade Brewer.
I was perplexed Thursday when I saw many new faces I didn't recongize in the front row of the home basketball student section. I later learned they were members of the Bixby girls basketball team returning the favor for the Collinsville girls team that had cheered for them at one of thier (Bixby) games. That still didn't make sense to me until I was reminded that Collinsville Coach Mark Campbell's daughter was the coach of the Bixby girls. Apparently the two teams had also scrimmaged earlier and formed a "family" bond. The Collinsville girls had gone to cheer on the Bixby girls at a recent Owasso-Bixby game. -- Ted

It doesn't show up well in the box score ... but with the score after 3 quarters at 27-25 the Claremore Ladies started the 4th quarter with a 9 point run and had the Lady Cards down 27-34 with about 5 minutes left in the game. After that point the Collinsville Ladies scored all 12 of their 4th quarter points for the 39-34 win. A couple of Mallory Vaughn shot blocks and Sawyer Salisbury free throws were key plays in that final stretch. -- Ted Wright
