Ready For School?
I'm guessing that this 8th grader (above) was so anxious for school to start that his friends had to drag him away from the Middle School today (after picking up their class schedules)... to wait another week for classes to start August 14th. -- Ted Wright 8/7/2014
Haley Taylor Earns Heartland All-Academic Honors

Haley Taylor, (from Collinsville) as a Rogers State sophomore on the Cross Country team and majoring in Social Science-Psychology, was named one of seventy-seven RSU athletes on the conference's all-academic team.

To be eligible for Heartland Conference All-Academic honors, student-athletes must have lettered during the 2013-14 academic year, be in at least the second academic year at their institution, and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better for the Commissioner's Honor Roll or 3.5 or better for the President's Honor Roll.

Sallee Field (Partial) Cleanup
That wasn't a lawn mower on the Sallee Field artificial turf Thursday but rather a machine to extract any metal that has found it way on to the playing surface since last year. Athletic Director Jim Riley told me that last year a remarkable number of hair pins was the surprise content of the bag left for him by the cleaning crew. As of Friday Jim had not had a chance to inspect this year's extracts. There is some clensing of the rubber filler material (and any other small non-metal trash) as it is returned to the "fluffed-up" fiber "grass". -- Ted 8/8/2014
As a sidenote ... please don't bring sunflower seeds or peanut shells (...etc.) anywhere near the field (including the stands) as those can only be removed "manually". And also remember that all school property is tobacco-free (and E-cig free) including the parking lots. -- Ted Wright
Softball Field Wheelchair Access & JrHi Practice
The Collinsville 7th & 8th grade girls began softball practice this Tuesday, August 5, 2014, with Taylor Kite as their head coach.
There is now a more wheelchair friendly path from the parking area to the spectator area at the CHS softball field.
