Stopped Train / Brain Confusion
This is not really "news" ... but thought I would share my thought process when encountering a stopped train just south of downtown Collinsville where 12th Street crosses the tracks onto "Old" Hwy 169. I first saw the train stopped Sunday afternoon as I was heading south and decided to take a photo if it was still there when I returned. Sure enough, it was still sitting in the same spot about a half hour later and no traffic so I stopped and took this photo through my windshield. This picture is OK, but the more creative side of my brain is saying go-ahead and pull right in front of the train and stop to get a more dramatic photo ... while the other survival side of my brain is telling me "you're nuts if you stop on the tracks ... just think of all the times you've heard of someone getting stuck on the tracks and getting run over" and there was now some other traffic so the end result was not stopping but instead a blurry (not looking) photo of the interior of my car as I rolled past on the tracks. -- Ted Wright

Summer Status / Volunteer Requests / Feedback

I never really get "caught up" as there is more work than I can possible do ... but feeling some relief as I've finished a few big projects this week and can now do a bit of thinking and planning in the few summer weeks before the mad rush of school in August ... while still working off a backlog of old request and unfinished tasks from previous year(s).

I would like to ask for public (cvilleok viewers) support for a few topics before the next school year:

1) I would like a few student volunteers from each class (9th-12th) to help me identify photos of kids for future senior pages. (Yes, I work on them year-round and no I don't wait until you are a senior to start). Email wrightted@aol.com to set up an appointment.

2) I would like a few students (9th-12th) to volunteer to help with news gathering and photography and perhaps web page building during the school year. It could be general topics or for a specific sport or activity that you are interested in. Email wrightted@aol.com to set up an appointment.

3) I always appreciate any feedback on cvilleok web site, school web site, graduation video, Newspaper Museum, City Park (as a park board member), or anything else Collinsville related ... positive or negative. Email your comments or questions (or news) to wrightted@aol.com.
