Don Walker (From Arvest Bank in Tulsa) briefed a set of charts and discussed reasons to approve the proposed Tulsa County extension of the sixth/tenths penny Vision 2025 sales tax that will expire at the end of 2016. The same tax from 2017-2029 is being called Vision-2 and is estimated to provide $3.1 million dollars for Collinsville use during those yars. Many more millions would be available for the other Tulsa County cities and a variety of job retention projects. Voters will have an opportunity in November 2012 (as they vote for president also) to decide if they wish to make this investment or not. Improvements to Tulsa Airport properties (where thousands of jobs are currently housed ... airlines and bus manfacturing) seem to be causing the rush to decision for a tax decision that is that many years out. Not knowing if voters will approve or not the city(s) need to decide this month how they plan to spend their portion of the proposed tax revenues. A small sample of Walker's charts are shown below.
The list of candidate Collinsville ways to spend their potential $3.1 million were similar to the list from the previous city commission meeting ... with the addition of improvements to Collinsville water plant as a possible featured benefit. Expect more info and likely an editorial before the November election as I continue to gather info. -- Ted Wright 9/21/2012
