Collinsville to play Carl Albert Thursday Oct. 11th at 11am
in State Tournament in OKC ... wins earn Fri & Sat games
The 2012 Collinsville Lady Cardinal Softball team got to hoist the Regional Champs plaque and punched their ticket to the 5A State Fast-Pitch Tournament Thursday. They defeated Skiatook in the finals 5-2. They also beat Skiatook 10-6 and East Central 22-0 on Wednesday.
One of the many key plays in the 2-day Regional tournament was Samantha Smith's solo homer which broke a 2-2 tie in the final game with Skiatook. Smith waited on a change-up pitch and sailed it over the right field fence.
Catcher Casey Dickinson was able to tag out this Skiatook base runner at the plate and hold Skiatook to a single run in an early inning Thursday.
Taylor Harness started the East Central shutout Wednesday (with Emma Cooper finishing out the game). I missed the Skiatook game Wednesday so don't know who pitched, but Taylor went the distance for the Lady Cards Thursday in the 2nd win over Skiatook.
{The outdated Bill & Ruth's sign in the background represents an advertising opportunity for a new sponsor for the CHS softball team (contact Jim Riley).}
Tiffany Isam (above) and Rachel Griffin (below) had back-to-back homers against East Central Wednesday.
Shannon Driggers also homered in the East Central game.
