A,B,C’S OF FINANCIAL AID FOR HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELORS

Apply Early- Please remind students that the FAFSA is available to fill out on January 1st of every year. Why should students apply early?
– Because some federal programs have limited funding and those programs are awarded first come first serve, based on the students eligibility.

Be pro-active – Encourage your students to be pro-active and always follow-up with the FA office. Why should students follow-up?
– Because the FAFSA is not the only process a student must complete, the financial office may require additional documentation before the student can be awarded.

Call for answers – This is the time to have your students build a relationship with their FA counselor. Why should students call their FA Counselor?
– Because their FA counselor is there to help, they understand that the financial aid process can be a little overwhelming the first time. We want to answer any questions your students may have to help make this process as seamless as possible.
