The CHS gym was mostly empty Friday afternoon (except for a few workers scrubbing the seats as the cleanup & repair continues following the wind storm damage that occurred the day before school started (Aug. 10th). The roof has been now repaired and ceiling tiles restored. Refurbishing the water damaged floor is next.

CHS pep rallys have traditionally been held inside the gym, but I do recall this 1968 CHS pep rally (in a photo I took from the 3rd story of the former 1912-1969 HS bulding). The building visible was then the Central Elementary and later (until torn down in 2005) the Middle School Annex. I could name several in this photo (from when I was the CHS yearbook photographer) but the current CHS students might only know Mrs. Dortch and Mrs. Pollard. -- Ted Wright 9/4/2011
