Promoting Natural Gas Vehicle Research

This week, I introduced H.R. 1622, legislation which reauthorizes the Natural Gas Vehicle Research, Development, Demonstration and Deployment program within the Department of Energy for five years. During this research and development period, natural gas conversion systems will be streamlined with federal requirements to make gas mileage in natural gas vehicles (NGV’s) more efficient and emissions cleaner.

In 2008 alone, NGVs displaced over 300 million gallons of petroleum in the United States. I believe that natural gas must continue to play an important role in decreasing our dependence on foreign sources of oil and leading America to greater energy security. My bill will also help Oklahoma because we are one of the top natural gas producers in the nation, typically accounting for almost one-tenth of total U.S. natural gas production.

President Obama’s Budget : Spends Too Much, Taxes Too Much, Borrows Too Much

While President Obama tells us that only the most successful Americans will soon be subject to a massive tax hike, the simple truth is that every single American who flips on a light switch, drives a car, or buys a product made in the U.S., is taxed under the President's budget. My Republican colleagues and I want to hear how the President’s tax increasing budget will affect your ability to achieve your American Dream.
