Impressive
Building Will Likely Be "Ready For Students" But Not "Finished"
August 18th
Workers
are putting finishing touches on the main hallway above. This view is looking
west from the library towards the cafeteria on the other end of the hall.
There
are many empty shelfs and just a few books here waiting to be shelved in the
new library. The remaining books from the former library are apparently still
in storage.
This
Crossland Construction employee is either testing a new classroom for "reading,
writing and arithmetic" capability or just adding up all the things left
to do before school starts.
This
view looks back toward the library from near the cafeteria. Not all of the classrooms
have their carpet yet as seen by the roll parked in the hallway Saturday Aug.
6th.
The
kitchen in the cafeteria is decked out with new equipment in the north west
corner of the new middle school. So no more walks
to the Baptist Church for middle school lunch as was done last year after
the old cafeteria was demolished to make room for the new building.
The
main entry arch (facing Center Street which has now been graveled) was still
taking shape Sat. Aug. 6th.
This
colorful hallway leads from the new building (down a ramp) into the existing
middle school classrooms.

I
know back to school supplies have changes over the years but found one
of my old Big Chief tablets recently ... which brought back pleasant memories
of Central Grade School. -- Ted |
