Collinsville Is One Of ~24 Oklahoma Purple Heart Designated Cities
Snook (Kay Jr.) Bayouth (center) accepted a certificate on behalf of his late father (Kay Bayouth) who was awarded the Purple Heart twice for his wounds received during World War II. The presentation was made by James Roderick (left) and Bud York (right) at the City of Collinsville's ceremony honoring several local Purple Heart veterans Wednesday August 7, 2019.
Tom Harrison (left) of Collinsville, received a certificate at the City sponsored event to honor our Purple Heart veterans. There were also several other Purple Heart recipients in attendance from other nearby communities: Owasso (Larry Cozart), Broken Arrow (Don Delap, Mitch Reed), Bartlesville (Ron Jones), and Claremore (Phillip Bean, Bob McCarty, William Woodward).
Mayor Bud York provided historical information on Corporal John Daniels who was Collinsville's first war death during World War I. Daniels died in France in September 1918 in the Battle at Saint Mihiel. He was interred twice in Europe before his body was shipped back to Collinsville in 1921 for final burial in Collinsville's Ridgelawn Cemetery. The Collinsville Americal Legion Post carries his name.

Good Afternoon City Council Members,

The City of Collinsville will be honoring all local Purple Heart Recipients and Veterans at a special recognition dinner and ceremony on National Purple Heart Day, Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at 6:00 PM. The event will take place at the Veterans Community Center on Main Street. We would like to extend this invitation to you all to be present to represent the City of Collinsville. We will have representatives from the Military Order of the Purple Heart, State Representatives of the American Legion, and area Purple Heart Recipients. The Collinsville Masonic Lodge #165 has asked to present the Purple Heart recipients present at the event with a certificate of recognition. We will also be presenting local businessman, Snook Bayouth with an honorary certificate on behalf of his father Kay M. Bayouth Sr. who received two Purple Heart awards during his service in World War II. As dinner will be served, please RSVP by replying to this email, or by calling me at (918) 371-1010 ext. 2026.
