Ted, this
is Bonnie Phillips, with update info on Jimmy Phillips, class
of 62.
Jimmy (Goob)
Phillips died on New Years eve, 2019, after a long battle with
many health issues. He died peacefully at his Collinsville home,
with wife Bonnie and daughter Angela holding his hands. Jim had
lived his most recent years, almost 15 of them, as a Colorado
resident, much of that in Lake City, Colorado, and that is where
he wished to be buried. Due to weather conditions, interment of
his ashes has been delayed multiple times, as Lake City had a
horrific winter with over 200 feet avalanches and later serious
threats of flood due to snow melt.
The family decided to wait until fall to have his memorial; it
was his favorite time of year. So the memorial will be held at
the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Lake City Colorado,
on Saturday, September 14, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., with interment
following at the Hinsdale 100F cemetery. Lake City is very beautiful
at that time of the year, and any classmates or friends who would
like to attend are welcome. Travelers should be aware that lodging
may not be plentiful due to fall-color enthusiasts, so advance
reservations would be wise.
Cards are
also welcome, address is Bonnie Phillips, PO Box 233, Lake City,
CO, 81235. Anyone wishing to donate flowers may wish to order
live plants that are deer un-friendly, as the family
is planting a memorial garden. Gunnison, CO would be the nearest
florists.
