April 10, 2018 Senator Lankford Named Chairman of Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Subcommittee
WASHINGTON, DC - Senator James Lankford (R-OK) today was named Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government. Lankford previously served as Chairman of the Subcommittee on the Legislative Branch. Todays subcommittee leadership shift is due to the resignation of former Senator and Appropriations Committee Chairman Thad Cochran (R-MS) and appointment of Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL) as the new Appropriations Committee Chairman.
Im excited to take on the new leadership of the Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Subcommittee, said Lankford. The programs and agencies connected to this subcommittee play a vital role in supporting the American economy and promoting private sector growth. A government that runs efficiently and effectively can best support the hardworking American taxpayers that it serves. This is an opportunity to work on oversight, reforms, and effective funding for the IRS, FCC, SEC, Treasury, and all of the general government services that support the entirety of the federal government and the American taxpayer.
The Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government has jurisdiction over the Treasury Department, Securities and Exchange Commission, Internal Revenue Service, Small Business Administration, Federal Communications Commission, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation Office of Inspector General, Office of Management and Budget, Office of Personnel Management, and Office of National Drug Control Policy, among other agencies and offices.
