The 2018 FFA Speech
Season has officially began and we have several FFA members competing
this season. FFA members write and memorize a speech that they will present
to a panel of judges. They are graded on the general effect of the presentation,
voice quality, grammar, and their responses to questions.

On Tuesday, March 27, Kaylyn Branen and Justin Branen competed in the Dewey FFA Speech contest. Justin participated in the FFA creed division and did very well for his first public speaking contest. FFA has began their busy season with a bang. On Friday, March 30, several
of our career developement teams traveled to Northeastern A&M College
for their Interscholastics Contests.
Our poultry judging team member were Caysi Meyer, Ashley Porter, and Laryssa Wheeler. They did not place in the contest, but we are very proud of these 8th graders for stepping out of their comfort zone to try something new. The land judging team was comprised of the following members: Jeremy Sanders, Josh Guess, Katsy Smalygo, and Daniel Kaiser, and they placed 2nd overall. Jeremy Sanders was 3rd High Individual and Josh Guess was 5th High Individual. Our public speakers are Justin Branen, Kaylyn Branen, and Laney Branen. Justin presented the FFA Creed and Laney presented her speech in the 8-9-10 Grade General Agriculture division. Kaylyn Branen presented speeches in the agriculture policy division and the agriscience division. Kaylyn placed 1st out of 19 speakers with her agriscience speech. Congratulations to all the members and stay tuned for more results from this season! Kaylyn Branen |
