CARDINAL FOOTBALL --
Jr. High Update
9-16-16

The Collinsville Cardinals 7th, 8th and 9th grade football teams hosted the Claremore Zebras Thursday night at Sallee Field for a Metro Lakes Conference matchup. The excitement at Sallee Field was second to none. Every contest was evenly matched. The Claremore coaching staff does an outstanding job preparing their players. We wish you the best for the remainder of your season.

In the 7th grade game there was so many highs and lows on both side of the field. The Zebras jumped out in front early in the game, but the Cardinals would not quit. The Cardinals battled all night long until the very last tick on the clock. In the end the Cardinals scored to take the lead 29-26. The Cardinals improve their record to 2-1. Caleb Tehee broke his wrist during the week of preparation for Claremore. We wish him a speedy recovery.

Our 8th grade continues to improve. The coaches are very proud of their toughness. We have suffered some major injuries. Colin Goddard dislocated his knee cap, Caden Bouy broke his arm during the week of preparation and Zack Morris may have a concussion. We wish them a speedy recovery. Zebras win 20-8.

The 9th grade game was a smash-mouth affair. Our defense was outstanding and caged the Zebras all night. Our kicking game is just amazing and has added so much more tenacity to our team. Our offense demonstrated total ball control in the air and ground attack. These “Boys of Fall” are fun to watch. Cardinals win a big one 31-19. We improve to 3-0. Cole Dugger, our QB had a finger dislocated during the contest. Coach Riley was able to put it back in place, and Cole returned to play.

The Cardinals next action will be next Thursday at Grove. Game time is at 5pm. Their game field is at the Middle School. The Ridgerunners are a tough opponent. We must prepare well this week. Hope to see The Cardinal Nation at Grove.
