A Reminder For Collinsville Ridgelawn Cemetery Visitors This (2016) Weekend
The cemetery will be opened from dawn to dusk.

We do ask that all visitors realize the environment that they are in when they enter Ridgelawn Cemetery - a place of reference and respect and to please conduct themselves accordingly. No animals are allowed in the cemetery. We also ask to please keep tires on the gravel paths and not to drive or park on the grass.

City Cemetery Ordinances:

SECTION 14-120 PLANTING VEGETATION AND PLACEMENT OF OBJECTS IN RIDGELAWN CEMETERY

The planting of trees, shrubs, grass, flowers or other vegetation within the cemetery other than by the city to enhance the overall aesthetics of the cemetery is strictly prohibited. Any plants, bushes, trees already planted which become a nuisance by reason of their branches, roots, appearance or otherwise become detrimental to adjacent lots, aisle ways or roadways, or an inconvenience to other lot owners or to the upkeep of Ridgelawn Cemetery will be removed without notice.

Benches are not permitted in the cemetery except as headstones. This does not include those benches installed by the city for public use. All existing benches heretofore erected may be allowed to remain so long as they shall be kept in a good state of repair.

No shepherd hooks are allowed. All existing shepherd hooks heretofore erected may be allowed to remain so long as they shall be kept in a good state of repair.

No fences, railings or structure of any kind whatsoever shall be erected in the cemetery except by the city as a project to enhance the aesthetics or functionality of the cemetery. All existing railings and structures heretofore erected may be allowed to remain so long as they shall be kept in a good state of repair. Should they fall into disrepair or become otherwise deteriorated, it shall be the duty of the sexton, after making reasonable attempts to contact owner(s), to remove fencing, benches, railing or structure from the cemetery.

No objects made of glass or any other fragile substances are allowed to be placed in the cemetery.

Flowers in vases and articles placed directly on the stone or stone base are allowed provided that the vase(s) and article(s) are firmly attached. Due to safety during maintenance operations if such vases and articles are or become unattached such items will be removed by cemetery staff.

Ornamental rock, wood products or artificial ground cover will not be permitted as a substitute for turf.

To facilitate maintenance and upkeep of the cemetery, all decorations, flowers, wreaths or other articles of adornment which are not in permanent secured vases shall be removed from the grave space within seven (7) days of placement or no later than ten (10) days after any legal holiday.
