RSU Cross Country Announces 2016 Schedule |

CLAREMORE, Okla. The Rogers State men's and women's cross country teams announced its schedules for the 2016 season, its first chance to compete in NCAA Division II postseason under the guidance of head coach Chris McCormick.
Entering their seventh year of competition and third year in the Heartland Conference, the Hillcats take part in four events before ending the season with the Heartland Conference Championship and NCAA Division II Regional Championship with a chance to advance to the NCAA Division II National Championship.
The 2016 campaign starts Sept. 3 with the familiar UCO Land Run in Edmond, Oklahoma. The event will mark the fifth-straight time the Hillcats have started the year at the meet.
Two weeks later, RSU travels to Joplin, Missouri to run in the Southern Stampede hosted by Missouri Southern Sept. 17.
For the first time in program history, the Hillcats go to Tennessee for a race competing in the Trevecca NCAA Division II Regional Showcase in Nashville, Tennessee. The race is scheduled for Sept. 24.
After the trip to the Music City, RSU returns to a familiar race for its final tune-up before the postseason competing in the Oklahoma Baptist Bison Invitational for the seventh-straight year Oct. 8 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
The Hillcats take a two-week break before the Heartland Conference Championships Oct. 22 in Mansfield, Texas hosted by Dallas Baptist. Baylor Harvey returns after redshirting in 2015 and will try to repeat as the individual men's champion following his conference title in 2014.
The season continues as the Hillcats compete in NCAA Division II postseason for the first time. RSU runs in the NCAA Division II Regional Championship Nov. 5 in Denver, Colorado with the NCAA National Championship scheduled for Nov. 19 in Saint Leo, Florida.
