Gatesway Foundation and the City of Collinsville bring in the Big Top

(Collinsville, OK) – Gatesway Foundation, a Broken Arrow, Oklahoma based nonprofit serving adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities, has partnered with the City of Collinsville to bring the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus to Collinsville. The family event will be September 16th, north of Main on 5th Street in Collinsville with shows at 5pm and 7:30pm. All proceeds will benefit the Gatesway Foundation’s mission of creating employment and providing residential options to the people Gatesway serves.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with the City of Collinsville to bring this event to the area,” says Gatesway CEO Judi Myers.

“The Culpepper & Merriweather Circus has a long history of providing family fun all over the country and we hope this partnership will continue in the years to come,”

Between 9:30 and 10:00 a.m. spectators are invited to come watch the raising of the Big Top, then stay for the free tour. This presentation offers a unique face-to face opportunity for families, schools, and interested community members to meet and learn all about the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus family and includes a walking tour of the circus grounds. Learn interesting facts about the performers, the history of the show and the different species of animals in our Circus Family. That night, two shows will delight crowds at 5pm and 7:30pm.

Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $6 for children in advance, or $13 for adults and $6 for children on the day of the event. Tickets can be purchased in Collinsville at Collinsville City Hall, Family Pharmacy, Bayouth Insurance & Current Church Offices.

Taste of Collinsville Bringing Jazz Greats Back to Main Street
14th Annual Event to Feature Regions Great Jazz Musicians

Collinsville, Oklahoma: This year’s Taste of Collinsville fundraising event titled the 14th Annual Taste of Collinsville & Jazz Too!” will take place on Thursday, September 17, 2015, from 5:30 – 8:00 in the evening. Collinsville Downtown, Inc. is pleased to announce the partnership with Tulsa Jazz, OKC Jazz and the Tulsa Jazz Group, the largest promoters of Jazz in the area in order to bring the greatest jazz musicians in the region to play on Main Street. The musicians will be stationed along the three-block corridor from 12th to 9th Street, entertaining patrons to who will also be sampling signature dishes from some of the area’s finest eateries. Main Street Merchants will play host to notable restaurants such as Olive Garden, Los Cabos and Tulsa favorite, McNellies, to name just a few. Collinsville restaurants will also be showcased at the event. The event is an exciting way to introduce the public to all of the great Collinsville businesses who may have otherwise gone unnoticed. Local favorite Silver Dollar Café will be filling a souvenir mug with your favorite non-alcoholic beverage for the evening.

“We are honored to once again be part of such a great event and partnered with such a wonderful organization as Collinsville Downtown, Inc.,” commented Tulsa Jazz promoter John Taylor. “The artists have been looking forward to coming back to Collinsville since we had the pleasure of performing at last year’s event.”

“It seems as if each year we try to come up with a new idea that will out do what we did the last year. With the overwhelming success of last years event, we just had to bring jazz back to Main Street.” Said C.D.I. Board President and Promotion Chairperson, Sherry Campbell. “We’ve had so many requests to bring the musicians back, it was a no brainer as to what we were gonna do this year!”

Along with great music and delicious food, ticket holders will also be able to once again engage in a musical scavenger hunt. There will be several jazz instruments placed among the Main Street Merchants for patrons to find and record in order to be entered into a Grand Prize Drawing at the end of the night. The Grand Prize is valued at over $1500 consisting of gifts donated by all participating merchants and area restaurants.

Those wishing to attend this year’s event would be wise to pick up tickets before the event, as there are only a limited number of tickets available. Tickets may also be purchase at the C.D.I. office located on the northeast corner of 12th and Main. Cost of this year’s tickets are as follows, individuals $12 each, seniors (65+) $9, couples $20, and a family of four (2 adults & 2 children 12 and under) for $25.

Before Skiatook Football Game Sept. 18th
Collinsville High School Cheer will be at the Regional Cheer Competition this Saturday, September 19th at Bixby High School. We would love to have our Cardinal fans come and cheer us on.

The 5A competition starts at 3:30. The cost is $5.00 to get in and all spectators will sit on the west side of the gym. Come early because seats fill up fast.
