CHS Girls Basketball -vs- Edison
Collinsville Girls Defeated Edison 70-44 For
Area Championship
And Ticket To State
The 22 win - 2 loss Collinsville Lady Cardinals ("Cardettes") punched their ticket to state with a statement win over Edison (at Webster) Thursday evening March 5, 2015. The Edison Ladies had the first quarter advantage (leading 7-14 at one point) before the Collinsville team ignited both ends of the floor for an impressive 70-44 victory and the Area Championship plaque.
Caroline Sallee (#10) with a final long shot attempt to end the first quarter with Collinsville down 13-19. Dakota Jefferson (#21) with a 3-point shot early in the second quarter.
Collinsville had a great crowd at Webster High School Thursday with clear roads following a week of off and on school between snows. They were rewarded with an outstanding performance by their Cardinal basketball girls. The 6A and 5A playoff games were held Thursday but all the lower class games were postponed.
Dakota Jefferson (#21) with a 2nd quarter rebound in front of the Collinsville cheerleaders. Sawyer Salisbury (#11) gave Collinsville their first lead of the game at 24-23 with 1:45 left in the half.
This Taylor O'Dell 3-pointer gave Collinsville the lead for good (at 27-25) and started a 10-0 run in the final minute of the first half. (And a 46-19 run to the end of the game.) This Mallory Vaughn bucket capped the first half offensive and defensive flurry that left Collinsville up by 9 at the half.
Mallory Vaughn (#42) was a dominate force on both ends of the court.
Maddie Vaughn scrapping for a loose ball in the 3rd quarter.
Sawyer Salisbury (#11) in front of Coach Susie Vaughn.
The Cardinal fans reacting to another made 3-pointer.
The Vaughn sisters working for a rebound.
The Eigenheer sisters cheering them on.
No foul was called on this end of the play but getting the ball up court was a full contact adventure all night.

Caroline Sallee (#10) getting bench support at the free throw line.
Let the Area celebration begin ... but there is still plenty of work left to be done at State.
The second game at Webster Thursday was between Skiatook and Claremore to decide who would battle Edison for the runner-up ticket to State from this area. Check back for when & where & who ... when the OSSAA updates the brackets for State after Saturday's games. -- Ted - Friday 3/6/2015
I see that Claremore eliminated Skiatook, so Claremore and Edison will play Saturday. Also still alive in 5A East are: East Central (advanced to state), Grove, and Shawnee. In the 5A West: Deer Creek and Piedmont have advanced, leaving El Reno, Eisenhower, Ardmore, Altus and Carl Albert still looking to advance. -- Ted 3/6/2015 3:30pm

I was initially excited to see the Webster gym configuration with the high deck at both ends (for some overhead photos .. like Sawyer warming up above) ... but with signs not allowing standing there and having to poke my head through the railings to get a clear view straight down during my pre-game checkout ... I opted for the other locations when the games started. -- Ted Wright

Basketball Ladies Headed to State with awesome game against Edison to advance past Area with single game. Collinsville trailed 13-19 after 1 quarter ... but found another gear and ran away with the rest of the game. I'll give you photos and details later ... but my summary is the Lady Cards became Lady Sharks and started a feeding frenzy about mid-way in the 2nd quarter and looked like they belonged in the state tournament. -- Ted -- 8:45pm Thursday March 5, 2015 -- 70-44 final score
