The partial column below is just a small sample of the weekly articles written by Lucile Ellingwood-Morrow in "The Collinsville News" from 1937-1970. More of those articles can be found on the www.morrowhomeplace.com web site.
An index of the incomplete set of articles can be found here: www.morrowhomeplace.com/JustThoughts ... which is still a slow but on-going project. -- Ted Wright 2/26/2015

Ted Wright Note: This is just a random item that caught my eye as I was searching the archives for next week's Times Star newspaper history page. This one is too lengthy for that format but wanted to share it before it was lost from my memory. If you are not familiar with the Lazy-E ranch or Cooper Ranch or Uncle Rod Perry it might not seems as interesting to you as it does me. Cooper Ranch is near the intersection of Highway 20 and 75 (roads that did not exist at that location when this was written) and Rod Perry was an early day lawman in Collinsville.

The Golden State Warriors visited Chris's grave at Arlington section 60 yesterday. I accompanied them and told them Chris' story and the stories of many others who have given their lives for their country. Wednesday the Minnesota Timberwolves NBA team visited Chris' grave with his wife Jane, and walked through section 60 to pay their respects to the fallen. Thank you to the Timberwolves for visiting our nation's finest and bravest heroes who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

VVEC School Grant Applications Due By April 15
Education is freedom.

That is why we work with school systems in our service territory to assist in providing a quality education to our young people.

Through the Adopt-A-School grant program, we help school systems enhance the learning experience by purchasing needed resources, such as books, computers, software, electronic equipment, updating their libraries, or purchasing equipment that will make the school and grounds safer.

More information on the VVEC site:
http://www.vvec.com/content/adopt-school-grant-program

Please promote the Adopt-A-School grant program! We want to help as much as we can, but we need the schools to tell us how best to do that.

For the first time, the applications are online and can be downloaded, so please let everyone know that, and please include my contact info in case there are questions.

Thanks so much!
