Academic Team State Competition Feb. 7th |
The CHS
Academic Team finished its OSSAA season at the State Tournament
Saturday in El Reno, OK. The team won its first round against Tahlequah,
but then lost in the second round to Bishop Kelley and third round to
Duncan. Though we didn't advance as far as we would have liked in the
tournament, this is still a tremendous accomplishment. It was the first time CHS has ever sent a team to State Quiz Bowl, and we don't intend for it to be the last! Our team is still competing in several areas. The "Froshmore" team, only freshmen and sophomores, has been competing in its own subject-based tournament series and has earned Champion in Science, Runner-Up in Math, Runner-Up in Humanities, and 3rd Place in Social Studies. They will be competing in the State Froshmore Championship on Saturday, March 28. Students will also compete individually in March to earn places at the Tournament of Champions in May. The team will also be returning to the National Academic Championship in Washington D.C. at the end of May, entering both the Varsity and Junior Varsity divisions. -- Betty L. Dyslexia Awareness Capitol Day - Feb. 17 |
Hi, my name is Braytin
Kuykendall and I am a 6th grader at Collinsville Middle School. I am forwarding
you an invitation to The Faces of Dyslexia event at the Capitol on Tuesday,
Feb. 17. I have had a very hard time in school for years and found out
why last year. I found out in 5th grade that I am dyslexic. Did you know
1 in 5 people are dyslexic? I will be speaking at the Capitol to try and
raise awareness about dyslexia. I wish people like me who are dyslexic
could get the right kind of help earlier so school wouldn't be so hard.
I know you probably won't be able to make it but I would appreciate your
prayers since this is my first time to speak in public. Could you please
put this information on cvilleok.com? Thank you, Braytin Kuykendall (2/6/2015) |
