Elite Group of Cheerleaders and Dancers To Perform In The 86th Annual
2014 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
Memphis, Tenn., (September 2014) -- The 2014 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City will feature a performance by more than 650 cheerleading and dance team members representing Varsity Spirit.

Cheerleaders and dancers from across the country are invited to perform a nationally televised, showcased performance LIVE on NBC each Thanksgiving in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, one of the most celebrated parades in the world. Outstanding cheerleaders and dancers from Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA), Universal Dance Association (UDA), National Cheerleading Association (NCA), National Dance Alliance (NDA) and United States Spirit Association (USA) include team captains and co-captains who attended summer camp.

This unique opportunity began in the summer of 1986, when Mike Miller secured the first opportunity for NCA Superstar dance drill team officers from across the country to open the 60th Anniversary Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. In 1989, a second production number was added for NCA cheerleaders, and in 1994 UCA and UDA became a part of the event. This year will mark the 29th performance that Varsity Spirit, under the direction of Spirit of America Productions, has given this opportunity to the cheerleaders and dance team captains and co-captains from camps across the country.

Baylee Eigenheer, Collinsville High School, Collinsville, OK, was invited to perform as part of the Varsity Spirit group.

The group will spend the week before Thanksgiving in New York City sightseeing and rehearsing for their performance on Thanksgiving Day. This year's cheerleaders and dancers will show their spirit along the streets of Manhattan from Central Park West and 78th Street down to 34th and Seventh Avenue. The parade culminates in Herald Square with a televised performance of the spirited routine thay have spent the week rehearsing.

From Baylee:

Getting to perform in The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade was the most incredible experience of my life! I met so many amazing people and saw so many things! The parade itself was awesome and a once in a lifetime chance that I will never forget! Seeing the thousands of people lined down the streets and even up in the buildings was so awesome! Getting to perform on national television and getting to see broadway shows was fabulous! I cannot thank everyone enough who helped me get there!!
