Thank You
I would just like to sincerely thank our Collinsville police department. They have always been responsive and kind any time I’ve ever called them. But Saturday morning, they went above and beyond. They responded to my call regarding a box of abandoned kittens I’d come upon. Thank you and bless you, Officers of the CPD, for displaying compassion not just for the human members of our community, but also our helpless furry ones.

William Reynolds & Nick Stavros
At State Tennis Tournament
William Reynolds and Nick Stavros competed at the State Tennis Tournament this last weekend. They did an exceptional job! William Reynolds finished in 6th place beating out some very tough competition. Nick did not place, but had a great tournament playing some of the top players. Congratulations to these two players, and we look forward to next season and another great year!

Cvilleok.com Status Update
Note: I'm burning the candle at 3 ends as I work off:
1) old news ... backlog to about May 9th (including many emails I haven't even opened yet)
2) new news happening daily
3) about 50 more 2014 graduate pages that are still not complete

If there are any members of the senior class that would like to view the graduation video (that showed on the TU big screen) while they waited to march in ... you can stop by my office and I'll have a display set up. If you bring a thumb drive with more than 5GB free space you can have a copy. Maybe in a week or so I'll have a plan for replicating the DVD but my burner is not working now ... and I'll be exploring options when that works to the top of my list. If you ordered individual photo CDs, I'll let you know when those are complete but I can't work on them until the top 3 items are under control.

Memorial Day Weekend Holiday
(Highway Patrol Safety Tips)

***********For Immediate Release**********

May 22, 2014

Oklahoma City- Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers will hit the roads with vigilance over the Memorial Day weekend, in an effort to keep travelers safe. During the 2013 Memorial Day Holiday, there were seven people killed in five fatal vehicle crashes along Oklahoma roadways.

State Troopers will be participating in "Click it or Ticket" through June 2nd and "Operation C.A.R.E." (Combined Accident Reduction Effort) which focuses on speed and driving under the influence, as well as safety belt violations. May is also Motorcycle Safety Month and Highway Patrol officials are requesting motorists to be especially watchful for riders over the holiday weekend, as well as every day.

"The Memorial Day Holiday weekend should be a special time for families to enjoy. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is dedicated to insuring every motorist reaches their destination safely. Troopers will be working to enforce state traffic laws, as well as, lend assistance where needed" stated Patrol Chief Rick Adams.

Not only are troopers expecting high volumes of traffic on state roads, but increased boating on state lakes is anticipated as well.

Whether on the road or on the water, a designated driver makes sense. Boaters should remember that Senate Bill 324 changed the blood alcohol level from 0.10 to 0.08 on the water, which makes it as same as the road. This also affects implied consent where boaters are required to provide a breath or blood test if they are arrested for BUI, Boating Under the Influence.

Every vessel is required to carry one U.S. Coast Guard approved wearable life jacket for each person on board. Life jackets must be in good serviceable condition, it needs to fit the person who intends to wear it and be readily accessible. Passengers 13 years of age or younger are required to wear a life jacket on boats 26 feet or less in length when a vessel is underway. Life jackets are like safety belts and if used properly can save lives.

Children 12-16 years of age are required by law to have a "Boating Safety" class before operating a personal watercraft and/or a motorboat in excess of 10 horse-power.

The four day Memorial Day weekend will begin Friday, May 23rd and run through Monday, May 26, 2014.
