December 15, 2014 Church Of Christ Building Transition |
Two Collinsville Church of Christ buildings were demolished today (above) as the first step in a process to build a new church complex (below) in their place facing Broadway between 10th and 11th Streets. A newer structure near 11th Street was left in place for now but will also eventually be removed for the new church which will be started in the spring of 2015.

The former L. A. Horton Electrical Building (more recently the food bank building for the Church of Christ) was first to be reduced to a pile of rubble Monday Dec. 15, 2014.
This
2009 aerial view shows the buildings demolished today. The flattop building
to the east was the former Horton Building. The mid-1960's vintage Church
auditorium was in the center with another flattop classroom building
to it's west. The newer (2003) fellowship hall will be used a bit longer
for church activities. The former gas
company building had already been removed in 2008 from the far east
end of the block.

This church owned property just north of the fellowship hall will also be leveled.
