$3433 McTeacher Night Check For Wilson Elementary

Wilson teachers and staff participated in a fundraiser for Wilson School in conjunction with McDonald's on 116th Street on January 28, 2014. Pictured are Beverly and Harry Lossing from McDonald's presenting the check to Lee Ann Due, Wilson School Counselor, and Cheryl Hunt, Wilson Principal, for the grand total raised of $3,433.52. Wilson staff raised money through several different avenues for McTeacher Night. P & K Equipment in Owasso donated a children's bicycle and a John Deere remote controlled tractor that was raffled off by students pre-selling $1.00 tickets to those interested. The winners for the bicycle and remote controlled tractor were chosen at McDonald's on the night of the fundraiser. Also, McDonald's donated 500 apple and cherry pies, that were sold for $3.00 each, of which Wilson received 100% profit. During the hours of the fundraiser, from 5:00 - 8:00 that night, Wilson also received 20% of all sales made in the restaurant and through the drive through windows. The teachers and staff worked throughout the evening selling McDonald's pies, busing tables, handing out napkins and condiments, greeting students and families, sitting with parents' younger children so they could get in line and order meals, and generally, just having a great time working with the Lossings and all of our community who attended the event.

We want to thank the Lossings, the McDonald's, P & K Equipment, and all the families and students who made this fundraiser so successful! The money raised at the fundraiser will go towards renewing Wilson's subscription to Safari Montage, which is an internet-based teaching resource that covers all content areas.

1st & 2nd Graders Learning About the Character Trait of "Cooperation" During the Month of April
Students at Wilson Elementary have been working so diligently this school year, and are learning about the character trait of "Cooperation" during the month of April. As we continue learning through the remainder of this school year, we know that cooperation is a very important trait to all understand and work towards. We're learning that the definition of cooperation is working together. We're also learning a quote about cooperation: "Individually, we are one drop. Together, we are an ocean." by Ryunosuke Satoro. We're so excited that we are all practicing cooperation. First and second grade classes chose students in their classrooms who practice good cooperation. -- Lee Ann Due (4/10/2014)
