Veterans Remembered For Memorial Day Weekend
The many veterans buried in Collinsville's Ridgelawn Cemetery had their memorial flags in place (thanks to surviving veterans with an assist from local scouts and volunteers) when I made my annual pre-Memorial Day visit to decorate the graves of my many ancestors there Saturday. -- Ted Wright
Middle School Art Displayed
At Scoops & Grinds
I didn't get the word until late and almost missed the whole event but managed to get these photos last Friday (May 24, 2013) as artwork by Collinsville Middle School students was being removed from the walls at Scoops and Grinds. -- Ted
Downtown Addition
The steel frame is up for the future home of Hyatt Appliance on Broadway (between 9th & 10th Streets).
I was just browsing your site when I saw the picture of the memorial flags placed on Veterans grave stones. I'd like to correct you about who puts those flags out. It is the VFW Post 3077 with the assistance of Dairy Capitol 4-H members and other volunteers who put out the flags, not the local scouts. And if anyone is curious, we put out about 720 flags this year (2013). -- Thanks!
