I noticed this truck load of storm saferooms traveling down Collinsville's Main Street last Thursday. Interest has been high following multiple deadly tornadoes in Oklahoma this past month.

Patchworkers news

Linda Jenkins displays a quilted table runner she recently completed....colorful random stripes are anchored with appliqued long-stemmed garden flowers, creating a cheerful presentation.

Sixteen members of the Collinsville Patchworkers met June 11 at the Library, and took nominations for the 2013-2014 officers. Voted for the next term of office were Sherry Neph - President; Linda Jenkins - Vice President; Audrey Engles - Membership Chairman; Rosie Vaught - Newsletter Chairman; and Linda Pfeffer - Media Chairman. Chris Pierce volunteered to continue chairing the monthly fabric exchanges.

The June 15 Saturday Sew-In showed good attendance, as members worked on individual projects, and enjoyed a pot-luck lunch. The next Patchworkers meeting will be July 9 at the Library, followed by the July 13 Saturday Sew-In.

June, the “Gemini” month, is almost behind us and soon July 1, will be a reminder that JHI Summer Pride is to begin. Coach Redding is reminding ALL 7th 8th and 9th grade athletes that Summer Pride will begin July 1, at the high school weight room. The 9th grade will workout at 8:45 and the 7th and 8th grade will begin at 10am. The first week of summer pride workouts will be Monday and Tuesday. Beginning the week of July 8th, sessions will be Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday for the 7th and 8th grade and Monday thru Thursday for the 9th grade. Players should wear t-shirt and shorts and bring cleats and “CODE RED” effort. All the coaches encourage all athletes to make every effort to attend these voluntary workouts.

As Coach Riley says,” It’s great to be a Cardinal”.
