The new portion of the park trail was finished enough to remove barriers and let the big Independence Day crowd put it to use. It was a bit dusty with hundreds of kids running around in the construction dirt all evening. The fireworks show was the best in the past decade that I've seen, with a fast pace and intense flurry for the final several minutes. The park visitors had plenty of other food and other entertainment on an unusually cool (70's) July evening. -- Ted Wright
These are just a portion of the launch tubes containing the many shells that were exploded over Collinsville Tuesday evening for a spectatular show enjoyed for miles around. Workers had not yet installed all the fuses when I took this photo at about 6:30pm.
GRDA (Collinsville's electrical supplier) made a major donation to sponsor the Collinsville fireworks show.
They weren't quite ready for this event, but the center of the park will soon have 10 additional paved parking spots.
The two new picnic shelters were set up for the live band and the face painting / balloon twisting.
Skateboarding and water mellon balancing was an unexpected combination found in this photo at the ever popular skateboard ramps in city park.
