Class Reunion at OneOK Field? |
We are reaching out to high schools around the Tulsa area to see if you have any reunions or events coming up this summer that you might consider having out at ONEOK Field? We would love to host you! I know the Class of 72 had their reunion with us last season so I wanted to see if there are other reunions planned for this year.
Please let me know if you would like me to send you some info on what we have to offer and if youd like to come down to the ballpark for a tour! -- Joanna Hubbard joanna@tulsadrillers.com |

Chorus Revives CHS School Hymn |
Hail
to the Collinsville High School
To our Alma Mater true. To thee we'll e'er be loyal and we make this pledge anew. This shall be our story We will strive to do our best! Seeking to bring new glory To our dear old C.H.S.! |
The Collinsville High School Chorus recently sang the CHS School Hymn that Chorus Director Bob Humble speculated hadn't been performed before the student body in over 40 years. Both Humble and CHS Principal Jon Coleman commented to the CHS students that they would like to see the tradition renewed. I don't know exactly when it was a tradition? I don't remember it from my years at CHS in the later 1960s but there are plenty of things I don't remember. The band playing Oski-Wow-Wow has survived since at least the 1940's and likely before. The School Creed (below, which I also don't remember) was memoralized by the Class of 1984. -- Ted Wright 2/18/2013 If you have addition information on any of these school traditions, please email me: wrightted@aol.com or twright@collinsville.k12.ok.us |
Patchworkers Meeting |
At the Feb. 5, 2013 Patchworkers meeting, President Tonya Rosamond (l) displayed the quilt she made from strips gathered last Fall during the September bus trip for quilters. Sherry Neph (r) assisted with the display. |
Three guests were in attendance, and Linda Hare gave a program on the many quilting supplies you can purchase at area "dollar stores" - some of them obvious choices, and others required "thinking outside the box." Candy Reisinger received her exchange blocks, and Vickie Ewing chose school colors of Columbia Blue, red and white for her March blocks. The next meeting will be March 12, followed by the regular Saturday Sew-in on the 16th .....both are open to the public. --Submitted by Linda Pfeffer (2/15/2013) |
Track Cards Attend Pre-Season Indoor Meet |
Held
by the Oklahoma Indoor Track and Field Games Last Friday February the 15th, a portion of the Cardinals track teams competed at the Chisolm Trail Expo Center in Enid, Ok. The meet was a pre-season event that the Cards annually attend as an early season practice. Not all members of the Cardinals track teams were present as many athletes still are in winter sports. As coaches we were pleased with the work that our athletes put in at Enid and feel that the meet was very valuable experience for many of the cards younger team members. Results from Enid can be found at the following link: http://www.ohstrack.com/trackresults2013/enidindoor21513.html A few videos taken from the meet can be seen on the following links: http://www.swingreader.com/video/view/qozsoo6M , http://www.swingreader.com/video/view/sB0VnYzE This years Pie Auction will be held on Tuesday March 5th, at 6:30pm in the Collinsville High School commons area. Last years auction was a huge success due to the amazing parental and community support! A huge thanks goes to all the parents and community members who continue to support the Collinsville Track Program and all its athletes. We hope you can attend this years auction and take home some wonderful baked goods while showing your school spirit. Thanks and GO CARDS!, Collinsville Track Coaches (2/18/2013) |
2/19/2013 Email From Phil Sheehan (CHS 1969): As I have a mind like a steel trap--though rust is beginning to form--I remember both the hymn (wasn't it called the alma mater?) and the school creed. It seems as if we were supposed to memorize the creed because we recited it as a student body at more than one "assembly". Hope all is well with you. Oskee Wow Wow, Phil (btw Oskee Wow Wow is the fight song of the Univ. of Illinois. I was always under the impression that Neil Gordon wrote the song, but then I heard it when the Illini scored one of their rare touchdowns. Alas, another childhood memory dashed.) |
