HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION EVENT
Tulsa’s only free opportunity to dispose of residential hazardous waste.
Tulsa, OK, April 8, 2013 – The Metropolitan Environmental Trust (The M.e.t.) will host the Fairgrounds Pollutant Collection event on April 13th and 14th, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This event occurs at 15th and Sandusky at the Tulsa Fairgrounds, Gate 7 by the old Driller’s Stadium.
When residents pull up in their cars, they will be instructed to line up and complete a survey. Citizens do not have to get out of their cars. Volunteers and workers will unload their cars in an orderly fashion. This event averages about 2000 cars unloaded over the two day period.
This is an opportunity for residents to keep their homes safe by disposing of unwanted household chemicals, including fertilizers, pesticides, cleaning agents, medication, oil-based paints, ammunition, anti-freeze, motor oil, etc. Unaccepted items include: tires, latex paint, and commercial waste.
“Stop storing chemicals in your home. Use them up or dispose of them properly at this event,” says Michael Patton, the M.e.t.’s Executive Director. “You will make your home safer, your neighborhood safer, and your planet safer.”
The hazardous waste collections and education program is funded by the following governments: Bixby, Broken Arrow, Claremore, Collinsville, Coweta, Glenpool, Jenks, Owasso, Sand Springs, City of Tulsa and Tulsa County.

I happened by as these 3 rather "dapper" looking CHS Wrestlers (left) were on their way out of CHS to join the rest of the team at the State Capitol later today for recognition by the Oklahoma Senate. I was not free to make the trip today so am hoping to receive a photo from the event from anyone attending. -- Ted Wright 4/3/2013
Note: As yet I have received no photo or additional information. -- Ted Saturday 4/6/2013 (Previous)
