Samantha Smith Member of
National Championship Softball Team

Ted,

Thought I’d share a picture and some softball info with you. (In the picture, Sam is on the front row, second from the right, #13.) I’ve also attached an article that is soon to run in an issue of Softball Today. Sam represented Collinsville in a great way this summer:

Samantha “Sam” Smith, senior at CHS, helped lead her highly-competitive travel softball team, the Tulsa Elite '95s, to an undefeated championship at the 2012 USA/ASA 16A Nationals in Montgomery, AL. The national tournament was held this past August. Sam plays centerfield for the Collinsville High School Cardinals team.

Other team successes this past summer include:

ASA 18U Memorial Weekend KC, KS, undefeated champions;
ASA 16A Hall Of Fame Host Qualifier, Dewey, OK undefeated champions;
Tulsa Elite Invite Bixby, OK, 3rd Place;
ASA 16A State Tournament Norman, undefeated champions;
ASA 16A Hall of Fame Tournament OKC, undefeated champions;
Colorado Fireworks Aurora, CO, champions, (12-1 record);
Elite 18U College Showcase Plano, TX, undefeated

Collinsville FFA - First FFA Chapter Chartered In Oklahoma
By: Jennifer Burge
Over the past few months many students, parents, community members, and Collinsville FFA Alumni have asked me the same question.
“Why is the Collinsville FFA Chapter Number 0086? Since we were the first chapter to be chartered in Oklahoma shouldn’t our chapter number be #1?”
It has taken me a few weeks (sorry for the delay) but, I have an answer! When Collinsville formed their FFA Chapter in the 1920’s the National FFA Association used the charter number to recognize chapters. Collinsville was the first chapter to be chartered in Oklahoma so of course our charter number is #1. Some years later the National FFA Organization decided to assign chapter numbers and these numbers were assigned alphabetically which gave the Achille FFA Chapter the chapter number 1. In short, while our chapter number is 0086 our charter number is, in fact, # 1.
