Collinsville FFA - First FFA Chapter Chartered In Oklahoma |
By: Jennifer Burge Over the past few months many students, parents, community members, and Collinsville FFA Alumni have asked me the same question. Why is the Collinsville FFA Chapter Number 0086? Since we were the first chapter to be chartered in Oklahoma shouldnt our chapter number be #1? It has taken me a few weeks (sorry for the delay) but, I have an answer! When Collinsville formed their FFA Chapter in the 1920s the National FFA Association used the charter number to recognize chapters. Collinsville was the first chapter to be chartered in Oklahoma so of course our charter number is #1. Some years later the National FFA Organization decided to assign chapter numbers and these numbers were assigned alphabetically which gave the Achille FFA Chapter the chapter number 1. In short, while our chapter number is 0086 our charter number is, in fact, # 1. |
